Where Am I?

It’s one of these questions that can either be quite easy to answer or very complicated.  So, easy first.  Where am  I?  Well, I’m on Jeju Island in South Korea drinking coffee in a quaint café, writing this blog.  But also, I’m existing in this world, in a small corner of this physical planet we live on, aware of my presence, breathing, wondering about life and what it means to be here.   My consciousness says I’m alive, that I’m tasting coffee, that I’m smelling the fragrance of mandarins ready to be harvested at the orchard nearby, hearing mellow Korean jazz on distant speakers,  feeling my body, the chair I’m sitting on,  and feeling slightly hungry.  Where am I?  I’m here.  Right now.  And that’s all I can know.  I don’t know what the rest of the day will hold.  Or where I’ll be for sure at the end of this day.  Most likely still here on Jeju Island, in the cottage we’ve rented.  Next week, we’ll get on a plane and fly to another small corner of the world.  Suddenly we‘ll exist in Thailand.  And I’ll still be breathing, smelling something else, scratching my head, maybe, sitting on a chair in another café, maybe, wondering where I am in this world. 

Where am I?  I am.  Just am. And I’m alive.
